I got accepted to scad recently and I only got achievement scholarship. I have a decent GPA with plenty of AP courses. Is it possible to get any academic scholarships? Thank you so much :)

SCAD does offer academic scholarships, as well. Please contact your SCAD Admission Adviser for information regarding your specific file. You may also read more about it at www.scad.edu/scholarships.

Notes

How long does it usually take to review your portfolio? I submitted mine recently and I'm really anxious to see how much scholarship money I can get. Also, what is the "average" amount given to students?

Asked by Anonymous

You will need to contact your SCAD Admission Adviser for a status check. Scholarships can range from $1500 per year up to full tuition. For more information, please go to www.scad.edu/scholarships.

Notes

Do you have to be a junior or senior in high school to come to the SCAD Days, or sophomores and freshmen allowed, also?

Asked by Anonymous

They are focused more for juniors and seniors, but underclassmen are welcome as long as they understand there may be a few things that they can’t participate in just yet (like applying, getting a portfolio review, doing an audition, etc.). You may read more at www.scad.edu/scadday.

How many years of science do I have to have completed in high school to attend SCAD? How many years of history?

Asked by songbirdwally

You just need to complete whatever graduation requirements are set by your state board of education.

For the portfolio scholarship opportunity, would it be better to turn in the portfolio as soon as possible, or later - but with much better art?

Asked by Anonymous

It is best to submit 10-20 pieces of your strongest work.  If you are currently working on pieces you believe to be your strongest work, then it is advisable to wait until completion of the pieces to submit it.  However, keep in mind that it must be received by no later than 30 days prior to the start of your entry term.  You may review the portfolio requirements at www.scad.edu/portfolio.

I am currently a high school student and I am taking an arts course for college credit at the nearby college. Would SCAD accept those college credits?

Asked by Anonymous

Once you apply at www.scad.edu/apply, you may contact the school at 912-525-5100 and ask to be connected with a transfer evaluator who can let you know what might transfer easily to SCAD.

Notes

I REALLY need more money to help pay for scad. I got an academic scholarship of around 4500 & almost nothing for financial aid. I'm sending in portfolio and resume soon for scholarship, but I feel like its still not going to help much. How much can a person get with the portfolio? Also, what else could I do or apply for to help cost?

Asked by Anonymous

Scholarships based on portfolios can range from $1,500 per year all the way up to a full tuition scholarship to qualifying students.  Students utilize a variety of sources to help make up their balance: federal financial aid, SCAD scholarships, outside scholarships, grants, need-based aid, work study, part time work, educational alternative loans, payment plans, etc.  You may view these options at www.scad.edu/financialaid and www.scad.edu/scholarships.  Please stay in close contact with your admission adviser, who will be able to assist you through this process.
